I've been taking Estelle HBC (I'm in Australia) for about 2 years now, mainly to help clear up my skin and make my periods a bit lighter. But one thing that I'm finding extremely frustrating is how long it takes for my period to come. I take my last pill on a Friday around 6pm; it's now Wednesday morning and STILL no period. How come? is this normal? I usually will either get it sometime today or even tomorrow. My period normally lasts maybe 3 days. It's just strange because I have to start my next pack on Saturday night - is that OK to do when I'm in the middle of my period?
Here are the nominees from the Producer's Guild of America. These often reflect about 80% of the nominees (and have cracked 100% a few times, but that was with 5 nominees) for Oscar Best Picture. So to those who said to my predictions a month ago that STAR TREK had no chance of getting in.... nyahhh, nyahhh. ;-) (I'm not saying it's a definite - in fact, I removed it from my predictions about a fortnight ago (but will now reconsider), but it has a very good chance - if it doesn't make it, it would be one of the two or three just outside the ten). Anyway, the nominees are:

Apart from generally shitty writing and spelling and overuse of "the other man", etc, there are guaranteed ways to make me not click on your post, o dear fanficcer:
1. Overriding everyone's LJ layout with dodgy HTML. Yes, you are messing up everyone's LJ layout by changing your font size and colour and style. And making your text illegible and fucking up people's friendslist view just because you want to show off. Don't. You're already asking people for their time and attention anyway, but asking them to make an extra effort to even *read* your post is a guaranteed way to put them off. No, I'm *not* going to highlight your text or resize it nor am I going to get my glasses out to read that tiny scribble just so I can enjoy the fruits of your creative genius. I've set my LJ and my friendslist view to a high-contrast layout with a certain size of font because that's the kindest setup for my eyes. I like reading LJ that way. And so do most people, when they're reading their flist at least (note that I am not talking about style=mine here, just someone's normal flist view). So if you're going out of your way to mess it up, you're just being either clueless or arrogant or possibly both. Do whatever the hell you like on your own LJ, but don't try to mess up other people's, thanks. (Just so you know that it isn't just me,
azurelunatic mentions it in a very good post on the dos and don'ts of LJ on here.) Seriously. Dude.
2. "btw this fics shit lololol XD and unbeta'd the doctors a slut hehehe ^_^", et cetera. Extra bonus points for lowercasing and giggling and multiple smileys. Try not to look like you're an illiterate, ditzy fourteen-year old. Even if you are actually fourteen. And saying it's shit isn't going to help much (yes, I've been guilty of this a few times, because most people are a bit insecure about their writing/art, but confidence gets you more readers. Even if you think your thing is crap, it's best to save the "damn, it's not that good" self-deprecation for the comments).
3. Overriding everyone's LJ layout with dodgy HTML.
4. Inadequate header that doesn't state the pairing or the rating or the length and doesn't include warnings. If I don't know what I'm getting myself into, I'm not going to click. This includes sequels. "Lol i posted the sumary last week heres more fic go click" doesn't mean shit to someone who's reading their flist after a long break. Nor does it make someone go "ooh, there's a fic with my favourite pairing in? What have I been missing? Must go read", which is presumably the reaction you'd want. It should go without saying that people look for fic by fandom/pairing/rating/subject matter, so it should be a no-brainer to give them a clue of what your fic actually contains. Even if it's just "hardcore Jack/Ianto ageplay porn with no literary merit, contains unfing and then some more unfing, p.s., there might be watersports", that's miles better than "I made a fic, read it".
5. Overriding everyone's LJ layout with dodgy HTML.
6. "I am not RTD", if you're writing about characters that aren't Torchwood. If you mention this with, say, Doctor/Master, my immediate impression is that "wow, this person really doesn't know shit about Who, do they?" and thus it doesn't really give me confidence in your knowledge of the show as a whole. The Doctor, the Master, the TARDIS, the Daleks and Doctor Who in general were all around when RTD was a *toddler*. He did not create the show, and it's insulting to 40+ years of show history and the various people who have been working on it to claim that the new guy owns it. Even the new show doesn't belong to him--it belongs to the BBC. It just makes you look ignorant--even if you haven't watched the old series, you still know there has been one and that these characters and concepts have been around for a while. You don't have to say "the Master belongs to Terrance Dicks, Barry Letts and Robert Holmes" (because he doesn't), but it's good to show you're aware of the fact that apart from certain aliens and monsters, it's always the BBC who owns these guys. Think of Who as a car owned by the BBC. Different guys will be driving it at different times, and they may come up with their own characters and give them a ride in it, but the car itself isn't theirs. A copyright disclaimer should mention who the copyright belongs to, and in the case of Who in general, this would mean the Beeb. It's that simple.
7. Overriding everyone's LJ layout with dodgy HTML.
This list could and should be longer, and I'll probably be adding to it. But I'm too tired to rant much more tonight, so this is all you'll get.

TUESDAY TOY STORY POST!
So cute, omg.
Here is the weekly post where members can post links to their own Trek-themed action figure/toy story posts. Now I know you all got figures for Christmas, so get 'em out, and make us laugh!
We recommend that you comment with a link to your journal, as opposed to posting all the pictures in a single comment. One picture as a preview is fine, though, as long as it's small.
Have fun! ♥
(Sorry this is a bit late for the Europe timezone. I ended up stuck waiting for a bus for over an hour today, in the snow, and with my newly acquired hypothermia, forgot about it!)
I really do worry about the sanity of people sometimes.
I love Star Trek as much as the next person...but seriously.
The internet is full of some nutters.
I came across this article on blogspot which talks about
How the cast and characters of Star Trek
are reincarnations of crucial Historical figures!
Did you know that Leonard Nimoy is in fact the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln?
Of course...how did I not figure that out myself
Or maybe
William Shatner is actually King Henry VI?!
OH WOW! It's all coming together now!
How did I not work this put for myself...sheer genius...GENIUS!
(If you can gather there is some slight sarcasm in that last sentence)
The best parts are under the cut and the whole article link
But you must read it
It is absolutely bonkers...I dont even know...I cannot grasp the logic.
( I need 10 Picards for the amount of facepalmage needed for this... )

Star Trek's JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof were nominated for the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures.
Most important line from the article? This gem:
"The big surprise isn't just "District 9" making the cut, but "Star Trek." To say Sony Pictures and Paramount have a real shot of getting both pictures into Oscar's top ten now is a bit of an understatement."
To The Powers That Be, I say, MAKE IT SO.

Okay, so, I wanna talk about Papa Ghede for a second.
I've noticed that a lot of people think that Facilier = The Shadow Man. I just saw the film yesterday, and I didn't get that impression. The Shadow Man is, to me, the man that controls the shadows. It's clear that Facilier is not that person, really. I mean, he makes that clear by using the term 'friends' instead of something that implies his superiority.
When people talked about 'The Shadow Man', I got the impression that they were referring not to Facilier, but to Papa Ghede himself, the lwa of death. Even though he's far from the Western idea of what a death-spirit/god should act like, he's still srs biznss, and people are very careful about showing him respect.
Thoughts? Was I the only one that got this impression?
Also: Hi. I'm Melanthios. I have been a longtime admirer of Disney, was raised by it, and I'm a little afraid of joining Disney-based communities because of what happened when I got involved in the BatB one. That said, I'm going to take a stab at being enthusiastic about Disney's animated world again, in public (I'm always enthusiastic about it with friends, etc; it's when I poke my head meekly into fandom that I start getting afraid of what will happen).
